I cleared the Punjab Police Sub Inspector exam with Rank 2 (713/800). Veterinary Inspector is a Level-5 job open to diploma holders in veterinary science, with much less competition than the general posts. This page puts the official notification in one place.

Eligibility
- 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Biology from a recognised board.
- A two-year diploma in Veterinary Science and Animal Health Technology (or equivalent) from a recognised university.
- Those currently enrolled in this diploma, and diploma holders with 10+2 in Biology/Maths, Physics, Chemistry and English, are also eligible under the notification's proviso.
- Matriculation with Punjabi (or equivalent), under the service rules.
Age limit (as on 1 January 2026)
- Minimum: 18 years
- General: up to 37 years
- SC and BC of Punjab: up to 42 years
- State and central government employees: up to 45 years (NOC at counselling)
- Persons with disabilities of Punjab: up to 47 years
- Widows, divorcees and certain other married women: up to 40 years
- Ex-servicemen: service deducted from age; result may exceed the limit by up to 3 years

Selection process

- Part B marking: 1 mark per question, 1/4 mark cut for each wrong answer.
- After the merit list: counselling and document verification. Names go to the department as per the posts available at that time.
- Ties: older candidate first; then higher percentage in the required qualification; then matric marks.
- Sports-category merit follows the Sports Department notification of 9 March 2026.
How to prepare
- Solve the real papers. We have the PSSSB Veterinary Inspector papers of 2021 and 2023, with answer keys.
- Your diploma subjects carry the paper. Animal anatomy, diseases, vaccination, breeding and livestock management - revise your diploma notes.
- Don't drop the Punjabi part. 50% in Part A is a hard floor.
- Know Punjab's livestock schemes. Dairy, animal husbandry and state schemes often show up as GK.
- Mind the negative marking. At -1/4, guess only when you can rule out at least one option.
