Selection process
One objective (MCQ) written exam in two parts:
| Part | What | Role |
|---|---|---|
| Part A | Punjabi language, matriculation standard | Qualifying only - you need at least 50% |
| Part B | Based on the educational qualification of the post | Merit list is made only from Part B |
- Failing the Punjabi part rules you out, whatever your Part B score.
- Ties: the older candidate ranks higher; then the higher percentage in the required qualification; then matric marks.
- After the merit list, candidates are called for counselling and document verification.
- The notification said the detailed syllabus and pattern would be uploaded on the board's website.
How to prepare
- Solve the real papers first. We have the PSSSB Excise Inspector papers of 2021 and 2023, with answer keys. They show exactly what PSSSB asks.
- Don't treat Punjabi lightly. Part A is "only" qualifying, but 50% is a hard floor. Practise matric-level grammar, vocabulary and comprehension.
- Part B decides everything. It is set at the level of the post's qualification (graduation). Go through the 2021 and 2023 papers to see which subjects it covered, and build those first.
- Computers count twice. The 120-hour course is required for eligibility, and computer questions come in the paper.
- Only 41 posts. Competition is tight - aim well above the cut-off with timed full papers in the last month.
