I cleared the Punjab Police Sub Inspector exam with Rank 2 (713/800). PSSSB Clerk is the most applied-for Punjab government job every year, so this page puts the official notification in one place, so you know exactly what is being tested.
This page is based on PSSSB Advertisement No. 02 of 2026 (Clerk), published on 4 February 2026. As reported from the board's exam schedule, the written exam is on 11 October 2026. Always confirm the date on your admit card and on sssb.punjab.gov.in.

Selection process
1. Objective (MCQ) written exam in two parts
| Part | What | Role |
|---|---|---|
| Part A | Punjabi language, matriculation standard | Qualifying only - at least 50% |
| Part B | Main paper | Merit list is made only from Part B |
- Part B marking: 1 mark per question, and 1/4 mark is cut for every wrong answer.
- Failing Part A rules you out, whatever your Part B score.
- The board said the detailed syllabus and pattern would be put on its website - check it there before the exam.
2. Type test (qualifying)
- 30 words per minute in English and in Punjabi, on a computer.
- The Punjabi test is in the Unicode Raavi font.
- It is only qualifying, but you must pass it.
3. Counselling - document verification, then names are recommended to departments from the common merit list.
Ties: the older candidate first; then higher percentage in the required degree; then higher matric marks.
Last-week plan before the exam
- Solve the real papers, timed. We have the 2021 PSSSB Clerk papers (morning and evening shift) with the answer key, plus Clerk IT 2021 and 2022 and Clerk cum Data Entry Operator 2023.
- Don't guess blindly. With 1/4 negative marking, a guess pays only if you can rule out at least one option.
- Secure Part A first. Revise matric-level Punjabi grammar - you need 50% before Part B even counts.
- Start typing practice now. Practise 15 minutes a day in Raavi (Punjabi) and English. Many people clear the written exam and then lose the job at the type test.
- Revise, don't start new topics. Use the last days for current affairs of the past 6 months, Punjab GK and computer basics.
